Perovskite with Magnetite & Clinochlore
đRocca Sella dykes, Rubiana, Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy
Dimensions: 28 / 17 / 14 mm
This exceptional perovskite specimen hails from Rocca Sella, a premier Italian locality celebrated for producing some of the worldâs finest examples of this mineral. The centerpiece consists of two prominent, intergrown brown perovskite crystals that display the sharp, cubic morphology characteristic of high-quality finds. These crystals are beautifully perched atop a contrasting green matrix dominated by clinochlore and magnetite, a combination that provides a striking alpine aesthetic.
Beyond the primary cluster, the matrix is intricately sprinkled with a multitude of micro-perovskite crystals, adding depth and a sparkling texture to the piece. While many collectors are familiar with the dense, jet-black perovskites of the Russian Urals, these Italian specimens are highly sought after for their distinct amber to chocolate brown translucency. When viewed under direct light, the edges of the crystals often glow with a rich, warm internal fire that is simply not present in their Russian counterparts.
